Basilio Inn has been serving Italian food since 1921 out of a circa 1850 carriage house near South Beach, making it one of the oldest restaurants in the borough. The kitchen turns out homemade pappardelle with veal ragu and littleneck clams, and there is a working bocce court in the garden.

La Bottiglia is a Sicilian-owned sit-down restaurant that Nino Cusenza, a retired construction worker from Sicily, opened to help bring Port Richmond Avenue back. The menu covers fried calamari, chicken rollatini, and a seafood risotto packed with calamari, clams, mussels, and shrimp.
It earns eighth because the borough paper told Nino's story straight and he still works the room himself on live sax nights.
